Description
The exhibition bridges the gap between past and present within a space once used for covert listening and observation. A place that once suppressed human dignity for decades is now transformed into a treasure trove of archaeological significance, serving as a wellspring of creative inspiration.
In times of widespread uncertainty and recurring crises, revisiting our national and family histories is a way to seek guidance and reassurance for the future. Economic stagnation can have serious consequences when it seeps into the social fabric, fueling xenophobia and populism. Conceptual reflection is the fundamental building block of illusion, and illusion is a key principle behind the concept of heterotopia of illusion. When harnessed effectively, illusion can become crucial in crafting a fulfilling alternative to the present reality.
The artworks showcased in vNITRO explore a diverse spectrum of approaches and themes. Some engage with the local environment through reinterpretation or manipulation, while others delve into the complexities of collective memory or reclaiming a space and reconciling with its troubled history.
